Elopement

Previously, we at Beach Weddings Virginia have had a policy of doing weddings only in locations in Virginia Beach or Norfolk, Va. However, we recently did a wedding on the waterfront in Yorktown, Virginia and found it to be a great wedding venue. As photographers, officiant and videographer, we are very much open to exploring new ideas for wedding venues. There are many scenic and historic locations we would consider on the Virginia Peninsula cities of  Williamsburg, Jamestown, Yorktown, Hampton and Newport News. Anyone interested in exploring such opportunities should...

Yes, it is possible that it will rain on your wedding day. We often hear a bride say "I will just think positive and it won't rain" Positive thinking is indeed a good thing. And a good dose of positive thinking will be helpful to you in many situations. But weather is one of those situations not influenced by positive thinking. So, we recommend that if you have any guests coming to your wedding, have a confirmed backup rain location arranged. If it turns out to be bright and sunny...

One of the first things couples will ask me about is whether or not there will be other people at the beach. My answer is that the amount of "privacy" you will have at your beach wedding depends to a large extent on the time of year, day of the week and time of day you choose. For instance, if you want your wedding to be on a Saturday in June at 4 o'clock in the afternoon, you will not have privacy. But at the opposite extreme, if you choose...

You may be planning to do some special act or rituals during your wedding ceremony or after. The Hawaiian sand ceremony, “wish to the sea”, “jumping the broom” and walking through a gauntlet of swords, bubbles or sparklers are all popular. These are great ways to personalize your ceremony; and they offer excellent photo opportunities. Just be sure to talk to your photographer in advance so he/she can be ready and in place to get the best shots. Also the photographer can recommend the timing of such acts. For instance,...

Is an elopement wedding right for you? The most popular reason to elope is to save money. The money you would spend on a wedding could be set aside for other things such as a home, education, or travel. Yes, you can have it all. By eloping, you can have the beauty and magical charm of a large, classic wedding with top quality photos and video to remember it by at a fraction of the cost. If you elope, you can have precisely the wedding style that suits you as an individual...

Brides: Off-white photographs better than white. If you have tattoos and do not want them to show, its okay to wear long sleeves or a light wrap. If youre happy to have your tattoos show, go ahead and wear a strapless dress if you want. Long dress or short one? Your choice, but remember, we will take some pictures of you sitting in the sand. Sometimes a short skirt doesnt work as well in that situation. If you have your dress hemmed before the wedding, be sure to let the seamstress know...
