Writing Your Own Vows?

Do you want to write your own vows?

A lot of couples ask me if they HAVE  to write their own vows. Other couples ask me if it’s okay if they write their own vows. My answer in all cases is “that’s completely your choice” Your wedding vows are a very personal thing. Some people want to keep it completely private and practically whisper their vows to the other while others want to shout it to the world. Some are afraid they will start crying while others are afraid they will start laughing. Many people have their vows handy on their cell phone while others bring in heart-felt vows written on the back of an envelope. With my 23 years as an officiant, I have become completely okay with all of it. You do whatever is right for you. I am just here to make it legal. If you are interested in writing your own wedding vows, just let me know. I can send you some resources that you can use as a template to get your own started. But if you don’t want to have to say anything but “I DO” that works too.

One thing to keep in mind. You may want our optional “Keepsake Ceremony Booklet” which is like a mini-wedding album that includes your wedding photos blended in with the entire script of your ceremony.  If you are planning to get that and you are also planning to write your own vows, please have those vows available to me as a Word document so I can include it in the booklet/album. That would make a wonderful keepsake for you both for years to come.
